LONGi Partners with SG Energy to Expand Building-Integrated Photovoltaic Solutions in South Korea

LONGi has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Korean building photovoltaic company SG Energy to accelerate the deployment of its LONGi BRIGHT building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solutions in South Korea. The partnership will focus on product certification, pilot project development, and expanding sales channels to strengthen LONGi’s presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing building photovoltaic markets.

The agreement marks a significant step in LONGi’s international expansion strategy for LONGi BRIGHT and supports the company’s broader ambition to grow its global building photovoltaic business.

South Korea has emerged as a leading market for building-integrated photovoltaics, driven by increasingly stringent energy efficiency regulations. Under revised standards introduced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), public buildings have been required to comply with Zero-Energy Building (ZEB) standards since 2023. Additionally, all new private multi-family residential buildings must achieve ZEB Level 5 or higher by 2026. These policies, together with Green Building Certification requirements and RE100 commitments, are increasing demand for renewable energy solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into building structures.

With limited urban land availability and restricted rooftop space, building facades, shading systems, and perimeter walls are becoming critical surfaces for solar power generation. Building-integrated photovoltaic products that function both as construction materials and electricity generators are expected to play a key role in helping developers meet zero-energy building requirements without reducing usable space.

LONGi BRIGHT has been designed to address these requirements by combining architectural functionality with solar power generation. The product is available in multiple colors and customizable dimensions, allowing it to replace conventional facade, roofing, and shading materials while generating renewable electricity. The solution has already been deployed in several large-scale projects in China, including the renovation of the Beijing Workers’ Stadium and installations at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center, demonstrating compliance with national building standards while delivering high power generation performance.

SG Energy brings extensive local expertise in building photovoltaic project development, distribution, and construction delivery in South Korea. According to the companies, SG Energy’s local market capabilities complement LONGi’s advanced BIPV technology, enabling the partnership to deliver customized solutions tailored to Korean building requirements.

The cooperation agreement was initiated by LONGi’s Korea team following discussions between Zhao Bin, President of LONGi East Asia and Southeast Asia, and SG Energy regarding market opportunities. The agreement was officially signed by Bai Zhongxue, Assistant to the Chairman and President of LONGi’s Building PV System Business Unit, and Justin Lee, CEO of SG Energy.

Under the partnership, the companies will jointly accelerate Korean Standards (KS) certification, launch demonstration and pilot projects, and establish a sales network targeting premium commercial buildings and public infrastructure across South Korea.

By combining LONGi’s building photovoltaic technology with SG Energy’s local delivery capabilities and distribution network, the two companies aim to expand the adoption of building-integrated solar solutions in South Korea. Beyond product certification and project deployment, the collaboration will also include technical services and market development initiatives to support the long-term growth of the country’s building photovoltaic sector.
