TotalEnergies ENEOS Commission Vietnam’s Largest Rooftop Solar PPA Project At Samsung Electronics Facility

TotalEnergies ENEOS has successfully commissioned a nearly 28 MWp rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The project marks an important milestone as it is the first and largest rooftop solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) project developed under Vietnam’s Decree 57 Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) framework through a private-wire arrangement. Representatives from local authorities and project partners attended the commissioning ceremony, highlighting the growing importance of renewable energy solutions for industrial facilities in Vietnam.

Under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement, TotalEnergies ENEOS financed, designed, installed, and will continue to operate and maintain the rooftop solar system for Samsung Electronics’ second-largest manufacturing facility worldwide. The installation includes nearly 45,000 solar PV modules and is expected to generate more than 40,000 MWh of clean electricity every year.

The renewable energy produced by the system will supply around 26% of the manufacturing site’s annual electricity demand. Over the 20-year contract period, the project is expected to prevent the emission of more than 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide, making a significant contribution to reducing the environmental impact of Samsung’s operations. In addition to lowering emissions, the rooftop solar installation also improves energy independence, reduces electricity costs, and enhances energy efficiency by lowering heat gain through the covered roof areas.

The successful completion of the project demonstrates that large-scale rooftop solar systems can be effectively integrated into complex industrial manufacturing facilities while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex President Keunha Hwang said the project represents an important step in the company’s transition to renewable energy and reflects its commitment to building a more sustainable future.
