Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has reported strong financial and operational performance for the first quarter of FY2026-27, driven by significant renewable energy capacity additions, higher electricity generation, and continued expansion of its energy storage portfolio. During the quarter, the company crossed the 20 GW operational renewable energy capacity milestone while expanding its battery energy storage system (BESS) footprint at the Khavda renewable energy project in Gujarat.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, revenue from power supply increased 29% year-on-year to Rs. 4,280 crore, while EBITDA from power supply rose 33% to Rs. 4,122 crore. The company maintained an industry-leading EBITDA margin of 94%, and cash profit increased 28% year-on-year to Rs. 2,225 crore, reflecting strong operational efficiency and higher renewable energy generation.
Commenting on the results, Ashish Khanna, Chief Executive Officer of Adani Green Energy, said the company entered FY27 with strong momentum, supported by disciplined execution that enabled it to surpass the 20 GW operational capacity milestone amid improving electricity demand in India. He added that AGEL’s expanding renewable energy portfolio continues to meet the country’s growing clean energy requirements while maintaining industry-leading operational performance.
Khanna also highlighted the company’s progress in energy storage, noting that AGEL commissioned 1,972 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity during the quarter, increasing its total installed BESS capacity to 3,551 MWh through one of the world’s largest single-location deployments. He said energy storage, together with renewable generation and pumped hydro storage initiatives, will play a critical role in enabling round-the-clock renewable energy supply and strengthening India’s energy security.
The company’s operational renewable energy capacity increased 27% year-on-year to 20,142 MW, supported by 4,327 MW of greenfield capacity additions over the past year, including 3,051 MW of solar capacity, 684 MW of wind capacity, and 592 MW of solar-wind hybrid capacity. During the first quarter alone, AGEL commissioned 848 MW of new renewable energy capacity.
Electricity sales increased 30% year-on-year to 13,657 million units, driven by fresh capacity additions and sustained operational performance. The company attributed its strong operating efficiency to advanced digital monitoring through its Energy Network Operation Center, which enables real-time monitoring of renewable energy assets, improves plant availability, and helps reduce operations and maintenance costs.
AGEL also reported continued progress in developing its 30 GW renewable energy project at Khavda, Gujarat, which it describes as the world’s largest renewable energy plant. Spread across 538 square kilometres, the project has increased its operational capacity to 10.3 GW, up from 5.6 GW a year earlier. The company said the operational portfolio at Khavda currently stands at 10,262 MW, including solar, wind, and hybrid projects, and remains on track to achieve 30 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2029 through localized manufacturing, robust manpower deployment, and advanced construction technologies such as robotic solar module installation.
On the sustainability front, Adani Green Energy highlighted several ESG achievements during the quarter. The company retained the highest CRISIL ESG score in the Indian power sector for the fifth consecutive year, improving its score from 66 to 69. It also maintained its Net Water Positive status across its entire operational portfolio, improved its water balance index by 30% year-on-year, received the Clean Power Generation Award at the Reuters Energy Industry Awards 2026, ranked first globally in the alternative electricity segment by FTSE Russell for the second consecutive year, and achieved the highest sectoral ESG Risk Rating from ESG Risk Assessment & Insights Ltd.
