GreenYellow Accelerates Mauritius’ Industrial Solar Transition Through the CNIS Scheme

Mauritius’ energy transition is entering a decisive phase. As the country aims to achieve 60% renewable energy in its electricity mix by 2030, the Carbon Neutral Industrial Sector Renewable Energy Scheme, or CNIS, provides industrial companies with a practical framework to support local renewable energy generation and contribute to the decarbonisation of the national grid.

GreenYellow Indian Ocean is supporting this momentum by turning its clients’ energy ambitions into operational and high-performing photovoltaic plants. Building on its international expertise and long-standing presence in Mauritius, the company manages the entire project lifecycle, including technical studies, financing, administrative procedures, engineering, construction, grid connection, operation and long-term maintenance.

Through its third-party investment model, GreenYellow enables companies to develop solar projects without mobilising their own capital. Technical, financial and operational risks are managed by an experienced energy partner, allowing clients to remain focused on their core business activities.

GreenYellow Indian Ocean is expected to reach nearly 30 MWp of photovoltaic projects developed in Mauritius under the CNIS Scheme. This portfolio reflects the trust placed in the company by Mauritian industrial players and its ability to deliver solar installations across a wide range of sizes and configurations.

The partnership with Innodis is a strong example of this approach. It covers four photovoltaic plants with a combined capacity of 8.2 MWp and an estimated annual production of 12.5 GWh of renewable electricity, equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 4,500 Mauritian households.

GreenYellow is also supporting other major industrial and agri-food companies. A 341 kWp rooftop photovoltaic plant has been installed and commissioned for BGH, demonstrating the potential of existing built surfaces, particularly industrial rooftops, to generate local renewable electricity without requiring additional land.

Beyond Innodis and BGH, GreenYellow’s portfolio reflects the diversity of Mauritius’ industrial landscape. The company is supporting major players across the agri-food, manufacturing and industrial sectors, with projects ranging from 480 kWp for Domaine de Labourdonnais and 838.1 kWp for Cernol to larger-scale developments such as the 3.2 MWp Fast Foods project. GreenYellow is also advancing projects with Meaders Feeds, Montida Poultry, Moroil, Les Gaz Industriels and Volailles et Traditions, further strengthening its contribution to Mauritius’ industrial solar transition.

These projects demonstrate how Mauritian companies can combine economic performance, local energy production and measurable climate action. GreenYellow tailors each solution to the specific requirements of its clients while managing the complexity of grid studies, permitting, construction and long-term asset performance in an island environment.

This commitment was recognised during Mauritius Clean Energy Week 2026, where GreenYellow Indian Ocean received the Project of the Year – C&I / Distributed Solar Award. Bryan Laviolette, Project Manager at GreenYellow, was also recognised among the Future Energy Leaders Under 40.
