Navitas Solar, Caelux Sign 5 GW Partnership to Commercialize Perovskite-TOPCon Solar Modules in India

Navitas Solar has entered into a five-year, 5 GW commercialization partnership with California-based Caelux Corporation to develop and manufacture hybrid tandem Perovskite-TOPCon solar modules in India, marking a significant step towards next-generation domestic solar manufacturing.

The agreement, aims to combine Caelux’s perovskite glass technology with Navitas Solar’s N-Type TOPCon module platform to produce ultra-high-efficiency hybrid tandem solar modules for the Indian market.

According to the companies, the hybrid technology is expected to achieve module efficiencies exceeding 28%, compared with the current industry standard of around 25% for conventional modules. The higher efficiency is designed to deliver greater power output from the same land or rooftop area by integrating two power-generating layers within a single solar module.

The partners said the collaboration is intended to support India’s renewable energy ambitions by advancing domestic manufacturing of next-generation solar technologies. The commercialization initiative aligns with the Government of India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030.

Commercial production of the hybrid tandem solar modules is targeted to begin in 2028, with the companies aiming to position India as a manufacturing hub for advanced photovoltaic technologies.

Navitas Solar said it will work closely with Caelux’s leadership team, including Scott Graybeal and Vish Iyer, to advance the commercialization and large-scale deployment of the next-generation solar modules.
