Heelstone Renewable Energy, a U.S.-based utility-scale renewable energy platform owned by Qualitas Energy, has acquired the Cypress Pointe Solar project, a development-stage solar photovoltaic (PV) asset in Texas with a planned installed capacity of approximately 188 MWp.
Located in Sabine County within the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) market, the project is expected to support rising electricity demand in the region. According to the company, the project offers multiple commercialization opportunities, including supplying renewable power to corporate and industrial customers, hyperscale data centers, utilities, and public-sector renewable energy procurement programs.
The project was developed through its early and mid-stage phases by Azimuth Renewables, an energy infrastructure development company based in St. Louis, Missouri. Cypress Pointe Solar has secured full site control and received local community support. The project is targeting commercial operations in 2029.
Mike Weich, Chief Executive Officer of Heelstone Renewable Energy, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s development pipeline and aligns with its strategy of expanding high-quality renewable energy assets across the United States. He added that the company plans to advance the project toward construction while continuing to pursue additional acquisition and development opportunities nationwide.
Alejandro Ciruelos, Partner, U.S. at Qualitas Energy, said the transaction enhances Heelstone’s near-term construction pipeline while improving the scale, diversification, and earnings potential of its renewable energy portfolio. He noted that the acquisition also supports Heelstone’s evolution as a fully integrated independent power producer capable of originating, financing, constructing, and operating renewable energy projects across the country.
The acquisition follows Heelstone’s financial close in July 2026 for three solar PV projects with a combined installed capacity of 86 MWp, further expanding the company’s development and operating portfolio in the U.S. renewable energy market.
