Indian Renewable Energy Stocks End Lower Amid Broad Market Sell-Off (19 August 2026)

Indian equity benchmark indices ended lower on August 19, 2026, as broad-based selling pressure across key sectors weighed on market sentiment. The S&P BSE Sensex declined 0.42% to close at 76,909.68, while the Nifty 50 fell 0.44% to settle at 24,048.55. The weakness was also reflected across renewable energy, clean mobility and related stocks, with most counters ending in negative territory.

Juniper Green Energy emerged as the strongest performer among renewable energy stocks. Its shares gained 5.41% on the BSE to close at Rs 253.50, although the stock traded lower on the NSE at Rs 240.59. Praj Industries also remained resilient, rising 1.29% on the BSE to Rs 340.80 and 1.35% on the NSE to Rs 341.05.

On the losing side, Websol Energy witnessed the sharpest decline among the tracked renewable stocks, falling 4.60% on the BSE to Rs 83.02 and 4.52% on the NSE to Rs 83.00. Kabra Extrusion dropped 2.44% to Rs 499.75, while Borosil Renewables declined 2.27% to Rs 550.00. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy also lost around 2%, closing at Rs 195.58.

Large energy and infrastructure companies also faced selling pressure. Adani Green Energy declined 1.45% to Rs 1,290.00, while Reliance Industries slipped about 1.16% on the NSE to Rs 1,306.60. Larsen & Toubro fell 1.27% to Rs 4,030.10.

Power utilities followed the broader market trend, with JSW Energy falling 1.58% to Rs 540.20, Tata Power declining 0.63% to Rs 378.20 and NTPC Green Energy easing 0.62% to Rs 91.60. Inox Wind also dropped 1.73% to Rs 73.74.

Energy storage and electric mobility stocks remained under pressure. Exide Industries and Amara Raja Energy & Mobility declined 1.35% and 0.76%, respectively, while Olectra Greentech fell 1.88%.

Overall, renewable and clean energy stocks largely mirrored the cautious market mood, with stock-specific gains providing limited relief from widespread selling pressure.
