NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has announced a significant achievement by its wholly owned subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), which has secured 500 MW of contracted capacity in a competitive tender conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
NTPC REL emerged successful in SECI’s FDRE-IX tender. The tender was designed to select renewable energy developers for supplying assured peak power from Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected renewable energy projects across India.
The SECI-FDRE-IX tender involves a total requirement of 6,000 MWh of assured peak power, equivalent to 1,500 MW of capacity supplied for four hours. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the availability of reliable clean electricity during periods of high demand and supporting the growing integration of renewable energy into India’s power system.
Following an electronic reverse auction held on August 21, 2026, NTPC REL secured 500 MW of capacity at a discovered tariff of ₹6.00 per kWh. The successful bid represents one-third of the total capacity offered under the tender, highlighting NTPC REL’s strong position in the country’s rapidly expanding renewable and firm power market.
The achievement was formally communicated by NGEL to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015. The disclosure was signed by Deepak C. S., Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of NTPC Green Energy Limited.
The project win marks another important step in NTPC REL’s renewable energy expansion strategy. With India increasing its focus on reliable renewable power and peak-hour electricity supply, projects that can provide assured generation are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting grid stability.
By securing 500 MW in SECI’s FDRE-IX tender, NTPC REL has further strengthened its role in the development of large-scale clean energy projects capable of meeting the country’s growing demand for dependable and sustainable electricity.
