Taiwan Announces 2026 Renewable Energy Feed-In Tariffs Across Solar, Wind And Other Sources

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has announced the official feed-in tariffs for renewable energy projects for 2026, establishing electricity purchase rates for solar, wind, biomass, waste-to-energy, hydropower, geothermal and marine energy projects. The new tariff structure is aimed at supporting continued investment in renewable power generation and strengthening Taiwan’s clean energy development.

Solar photovoltaic projects have different tariffs based on system size and installation type. Rooftop systems between 1 kW and under 10 kW will receive the highest rate of 5.6279 TWD per kWh. Installations from 10 kW to under 20 kW will receive 5.3819 TWD per kWh. The tariff declines as project capacity increases, reaching 3.6236 TWD per kWh for systems of 500 kW and above. Ground-mounted solar projects will receive 3.5037 TWD per kWh, while floating solar projects will receive 3.8948 TWD per kWh for both the first and second phases.

Wind power tariffs vary according to project size and technical specifications. Small land-based wind systems below 30 kW will receive 7.4110 TWD per kWh. Projects of 30 kW and above with low-voltage and high-voltage ride-through capabilities will receive 2.1299 TWD per kWh, compared with 2.0980 TWD per kWh for systems without these capabilities.

Biomass tariffs depend on the type of fuel used. Biogas produced through anaerobic digestion will receive 7.0192 TWD per kWh. Electricity generated from solid biofuels and domestic agricultural residues will receive 5.1580 TWD per kWh, while other biomass sources will receive 2.8066 TWD per kWh. General and industrial waste-to-energy projects will receive 3.7263 TWD per kWh.

Small hydropower projects will receive tariffs ranging from 4.9548 TWD per kWh for systems below 100 kW to 4.2285 TWD per kWh for installations between 500 kW and under 20,000 kW.

Geothermal energy receives a differentiated tariff structure, with small projects below 5,000 kW eligible for rates of up to 8.5522 TWD per kWh during their first ten years. Next-generation geothermal projects will receive 7.2498 TWD per kWh. Marine energy has been assigned a tariff of 7.3200 TWD per kWh.

The 2026 tariff framework provides greater clarity for renewable energy developers and investors, supporting Taiwan’s efforts to expand clean electricity generation and diversify its renewable energy portfolio.
