SWELECT Energy Systems Limited has commissioned a new 10 MW solar power plant in Tamil Nadu through its subsidiary, ESG Green Energy Private Limited. The project achieved commercial operation on August 24, 2026, strengthening the company’s renewable energy presence in the state.
The solar power plant is located at Nedumpirai Village in Cheyyar Taluk of Tiruvannamalai district, Tamil Nadu. The facility has been developed to support the supply of clean electricity to industrial and commercial consumers in the region.
The plant is connected at the 33 kV level to an existing 110/33 kV 10(1) Pooling Sub Station. The pooling substation was previously established by SWELECT Energy Systems in accordance with Section 10(1) of the Electricity Act, 2003. The power infrastructure is further connected to the 110/33-11 kV Sirungattur substation operated by the Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited (TANTRANSCO) at the 110 kV level.
The electricity generated from the 10 MW solar project will be supplied to a designated group of industrial and commercial consumers under the Group Captive Power Sale model. Power transmission will take place through Tamil Nadu’s Intra-State Open Access network, enabling the generated renewable electricity to reach the contracted consumers.
The project is part of SWELECT Energy Systems’ efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio and support the growing demand for clean electricity from commercial and industrial users. Group captive solar projects also provide businesses with an opportunity to increase their renewable energy consumption while utilizing the state’s open access transmission network.
SWELECT formally disclosed the commissioning of the project to the BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited on August 25, 2026. The regulatory filing was signed by R. Chellappan, Vice Chairman and Whole Time Director of SWELECT Energy Systems Limited.
The commissioning adds another operational solar asset to SWELECT’s renewable energy portfolio and contributes to the broader expansion of solar power generation capacity in Tamil Nadu.
