Cape EMS Bhd has expanded its renewable energy business through a strategic partnership between its wholly-owned subsidiary, Cape Renewables Sdn Bhd, and Helios PV (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd to distribute residential Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Under the partnership, Cape EMS will use its manufacturing facility in Senai, Johor, Malaysia, for the sourcing, localization, system integration, assembly, testing, and supply of residential BESS units. The systems will be assembled in Malaysia and supplied to international markets as demand for energy storage continues to increase.
The collaboration combines Cape EMS’s manufacturing and system integration capabilities with Helios PV’s commercial network and market execution experience. Through the partnership, both companies aim to develop a supply platform capable of supporting the growing requirement for residential energy storage in overseas markets.
As part of the agreement, Cape EMS plans to make greater use of its existing manufacturing infrastructure in Senai. The facility is expected to serve as an assembly, integration, and export hub for residential BESS products. This approach will allow the company to leverage its existing capabilities while supporting its expansion into international energy storage markets.
Germany has been identified as the initial target market for the partnership. The country is considered one of Europe’s established residential battery storage markets, supported by increasing adoption of renewable energy and distributed energy systems. The companies will use Germany as a launchpad before gradually expanding their BESS distribution activities into other European Union markets.
The partnership comes as residential battery storage becomes increasingly important for households seeking to improve the use of renewable electricity and manage energy consumption. Battery systems can allow residential users to store electricity generated from sources such as rooftop solar and use it when required.
For Cape EMS, the agreement also provides an opportunity to expand its manufacturing activities beyond its existing markets and participate in the international energy storage supply chain. The company’s Senai facility will play a central role in the partnership by supporting production, testing, integration, and export operations.
The collaboration with Helios PV is expected to establish a foundation for Cape EMS’s residential BESS business in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, with further market expansion planned after the initial focus on Germany.
