Vestas Secures First Global Order for New V182-7.2 MW Wind Turbine in Sweden

Vestas has secured a firm order from Swedish renewable energy company SR Energy for its newly launched V182-7.2 MW wind turbine, marking the turbine’s first order globally, just one day after its market launch.

The 29 MW Staverhult wind project in Sweden will feature four V182-7.2 MW turbines. Under the agreement, Vestas will supply, deliver and commission the turbines and provide a 35-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement to support long-term performance optimization.

The Staverhult project is being developed by SR Energy and is expected to strengthen electricity supply in southern Sweden while increasing renewable power generation.

Peter Zachrisson, CEO of SR Energy, said the company will use Vestas’ latest turbine technology to maximize the available wind resource at the site and increase renewable electricity generation.

Jens Kück, Senior Vice President for Sales at Vestas Northern and Central Europe, said the first order for the V182-7.2 MW demonstrates that the turbine is ready for the market and can support project economics under changing market conditions.

The V182-7.2 MW is based on Vestas’ established EnVentus platform, with design enhancements aimed at increasing energy production while maintaining the platform’s existing architecture.

Vestas said the company plans to ramp up serial production of the V182-7.2 MW from the end of 2027.

Turbine deliveries for the Staverhult project are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2028, with commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2028.

Once operational, the project will contribute additional renewable electricity to Sweden’s power system and support the country’s demand for affordable and secure low-carbon energy.
