Navitas Solar has announced plans to invest ₹10,000 crore over the next five years to develop an integrated renewable energy ecosystem across Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The planned investment will support the company’s expansion across the solar value chain, including ingot and wafer manufacturing, high-efficiency solar cells and modules, as well as battery energy storage systems (BESS) and renewable power generation.
The investment roadmap is aimed at expanding Navitas Solar’s operations beyond solar module manufacturing and establishing an integrated clean energy platform covering both upstream and downstream segments of the renewable energy value chain.
Navitas Solar Developing 2.4 GW Solar Cell Facility
As part of the expansion, Navitas Solar is developing a 2.4 GW solar cell manufacturing facility at Sisodara, Gujarat.
The first phase of the project involves an investment of approximately ₹1,200 crore. The company is also developing pilot lines for ingot and wafer manufacturing to build technical capabilities and establish a foundation for future commercial-scale production.
The solar cell manufacturing facility is targeted to become operational by July 2027.
Expansion Into Renewable Power and Energy Storage
Navitas Solar is also expanding into renewable energy generation and energy storage.
In Maharashtra, the company is developing two solar parks with capacities of 200 MW and 25 MW, respectively, under engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and independent power producer (IPP) models.
In Gujarat, the company plans to establish a 5 GWh battery energy storage facility in Vadodara, marking its entry into the energy storage segment.
Ankit Singhania, Director, Navitas Solar, said the company’s planned investment is focused on expanding manufacturing capacity while building capabilities across technologies and infrastructure supporting India’s clean energy transition.
Existing Manufacturing Capacity
The planned investment builds on Navitas Solar’s existing manufacturing operations, which include 3 GW of annual solar module manufacturing capacity.
The company manufactures high-efficiency solar modules based on technologies including TOPCon and Bifacial Mono PERC.
Navitas Solar has also been pursuing backward integration through its solar encapsulant business, Navitas Alpha, while expanding its renewable energy portfolio through subsidiaries including Navitas Planet.
Its EPC business is also expanding into the Southern African region, focusing on utility-scale and IPP projects.
The investment plan comes amid increasing focus on domestic renewable energy manufacturing, supply-chain resilience and higher value addition across India’s solar industry.
Through the proposed investments, Navitas Solar aims to establish an integrated platform spanning upstream manufacturing, solar module production, energy storage, project execution and renewable power generation.
