Vikran Engineering Limited has secured an order worth approximately ₹153.76 crore, excluding GST, from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) for the 400 kV AIS Extension Substation Package SS-136T.
The order was awarded through the Domestic Competitive Bidding route and will strengthen Vikran Engineering’s presence in high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
Under the project, Vikran will undertake the extension of the 400/220 kV Tumkur-II (AIS) Pooling Substation, along with civil works for a ±300 MVAR STATCOM at the Tumkur-II pooling substation.
The project forms part of the transmission system strengthening at Tumkur-II to facilitate the integration of an additional 2.7 GW of renewable energy capacity through the tariff-based competitive bidding route.
Vikran Engineering’s scope includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, testing and supply of equipment and materials, as well as transportation, unloading, storage, erection, testing and commissioning required for the complete execution of the package.
The project will be executed under separate contracts covering the supply of goods and services. The overall execution period is 21 months from the date of issuance of the Notification of Award.
Commenting on the order win, Rakesh Markhedkar, Chairman and Managing Director, Vikran Engineering Limited, said the order strengthens the company’s presence in high-voltage transmission infrastructure and reflects continued customer confidence in its engineering and execution capabilities.
He added that the Tumkur-II project will support the strengthening of India’s transmission network and facilitate the integration of additional renewable energy capacity into the grid.
