The Nordex Group has received a 56 MW order from WEB Windenergie AG (W.E.B) for the Auersthal RI repowering project in the Gänserndorf district of Lower Austria.
Under the order, Nordex will supply and install eight N175/6.X wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 7 MW. The agreement also includes a 25-year Premium Service contract.
The project represents a milestone for Nordex in the Austrian market, as the Auersthal RI development will be the first project in Austria to feature the N175/6.X turbine. With eight turbines, it is also the largest single wind project implemented by Nordex in Austria to date.
Auersthal RI is being developed as a repowering project, replacing existing wind turbines with newer-generation machines. The upgraded turbines are expected to increase energy production and improve the efficiency of the existing wind farm site.
The N175/6.X is part of Nordex’s Delta4000 platform and is designed to deliver high energy yields, particularly at inland locations, while making efficient use of available land.
Commissioning of the new turbines is scheduled for 2028.
Roman Prager, Executive Board Member of W.E.B, said the project represents an important step for the company as it installs turbines of this size for the first time, while continuing its partnership with Nordex and the municipality of Auersthal.
Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Europe at the Nordex Group, said the project demonstrates the competitiveness of the company’s technology in the repowering segment and highlighted the role of modern wind turbines in increasing generation from existing sites.
