Maharashtra has signed 67 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) involving proposed investments of more than ₹8.5 lakh crore at the Maharashtra Investment Summit, with renewable energy, energy and cleantech emerging as important areas of investment. The proposals, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, are expected to create around 2.9 lakh jobs across multiple sectors.
The proposed investments cover data centres, information technology, semiconductors, energy, cleantech, renewable energy, aerospace and defence, along with advanced manufacturing, electronics, healthcare and agricultural processing. The strong focus on renewable energy and cleantech is expected to support Maharashtra’s transition towards cleaner power and strengthen the state’s position as an investment destination for the energy transition.
Renewable energy-related investments could support the development of new generation capacity, clean-energy infrastructure and associated supply chains. The expansion of the sector is also expected to create opportunities for equipment manufacturers, project developers, engineering companies, contractors and local suppliers.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also launched the ‘Invest Maharashtra’ platform to improve coordination and facilitate investments in the state. The government has assured investors of support related to land, power, infrastructure, approvals and skilled manpower.
Fadnavis said major investments should also create opportunities for local MSMEs, suppliers, youth and farmers through supply-chain participation and skill development. The investment proposals have been received from regions including Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ratnagiri, Palghar and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The state government is targeting a $1 trillion economy by 2030, with renewable energy and clean technology expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting industrial growth, energy security and sustainable development.
