POWERGRID Wins Maharashtra Transmission Project For 765 kV GIS Pune West Substation

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been selected as the successful bidder for an intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra, involving the development of the 765 kV GIS Pune West facility. The project was awarded through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process and will be implemented on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis. POWERGRID received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project on October 16, 2026.

AUXSOL

The company secured the project by quoting annual transmission charges of ₹199.55 crore. The scope of work includes the construction of a new 765/400 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Pune West substation in Pune district, Maharashtra. The project will also involve the development of 765 kV and 400 kV transmission lines across the state, along with the associated equipment bays required to connect the transmission lines to the electricity network.

ReNew

The new transmission infrastructure is expected to support the development of Maharashtra’s power transmission network by strengthening the state’s electricity transmission capabilities. The substation and associated transmission lines will form part of the infrastructure required to facilitate the reliable movement of electricity across the network.

The company’s latest achievement highlights its continued participation in the expansion of India’s power transmission infrastructure. As electricity demand grows and renewable energy capacity increases, investments in substations and transmission lines remain important for improving grid connectivity and supporting the integration of power generation capacity across different regions.
