Power from the under-construction solar power station will contribute in responding to the demand for power in the province, particularly Poipet city which is an investment hub, Oum Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey province said.
30-MW solar power station in Banteay Meanchey province will provide electricity to most households in the province. The province’s current power demand is about 100 MW .
Ray Power Supply Co., Ltd. invested in a 30-MW solar power station with a total investment capital of $28.8 million.
“The new power source will contribute to increase power consumption by people and investment projects.” Victor Jona, Director-General of Energy at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, said.
Jona highlighted that “With the new power source, the capacity of power supply for nationwide consumption is enhanced,”.
Presently, Cambodia has 2 operational solar stations.They are 80-MW solar farm in Kampong Speu province and 10-MW solar farm in Svay Rieng province.
