Sirajpower Commissions Lifco’s 2MWP Solar Rooftop Plant at DIC

After only five months of design and installation, SirajPower turned on the Solar Rooftop System on LIFCO’s head office in Dubai Industrial City (DIC). Lifco is one of the largest consumer food distributors in the UAE since 1975.

The commissioned 2 MWp solar rooftop plant will produce 3.5 GWh of clean energy per year and is estimated to set off 2,500 tons of carbon emissions annually.

Through the close cooperation with LIFCO’s team of engineers, SirajPower accomplished yet another project for the Commercial & Industrial sector.

Recently,SirajPower, UAE’s leading distributed solar energy provider, has been appointed by Dubai developer Danube as its new solar partner for its projects in Dubai.

The group commissioned SirajPower to take over the financing, operation, and maintenance of its 1MWp solar power plant spread across Jafza and Dubai TechnoPark.

According to a statement by SirajPower “The solar project will cover 13,000 sq m roof area and is expected to generate 1.7 GWh of annual energy production”. The first PV solar modules have already been installed on four solar rooftop plants that are spread across Jafza and Technopark.

It added that “This project will also help displace over 1,200 metric tonne of carbon dioxide emission (Co2) per annum, corresponding to more than 150 million smartphones being charged”.

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised UAE distributed solar energy provider SirajPower on the US$50m portfolio financing of rooftop solar photovoltaic assets from multilateral development financial institution The Arab Petroleum Investments Corporate (“APICORP”).

The WFW team advising SirajPower was led by Partner and Dubai Office Head Andrew Baird, supported by London-based Associate Tom Harrison-Cripps.

Andrew commented: “This transaction is a first-of-its-kind in the GCC renewables market and we are proud to have supported SirajPower through to its successful closing. Our involvement in this innovative financing demonstrates our commitment to the renewable energy industry globally and its evolution in the GCC region.
