Procter & Gamble, one of the biggest FMCG companies said it has commissioned its first in-house solar power plant in India at its Hyderabad manufacturing facility. It is the company’s first manufacturing site in India and only the fifth site globally to have a solar power plant.
The solar power plant will be of 1MW and spread over 16,000 sq mt. It will comprise nearly 3,000 solar panels and will reduce P&G’s carbon footprint by around 1030 metric tonnes annually. The site is located on the city’s outskirts in Kothur mandal of Rangareddy district and is P&G’s largest manufacturing plant in India.
As environmental sustainability is core to the company’s operations, the company is increasing the use of renewable electricity as it forms a critical part of its renewable journey.
