DEWA Partners With Arab Youth Center For Clean Technology Innovation

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the Arab Youth Center (AYC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to prepare youth leaders specialized in clean technology innovation. This will be achieved by using the capabilities of DEWA’s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

The MoU supports the shared vision of DEWA and AYC to empower young people and build their capabilities. The MoU was signed by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and HE Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Vice-Chair of the Arab Youth Center. Officials from both sides were present.

“Youths are the powerhouse of the future and the core of the human capital our Arab societies need to accelerate socio-economic development. That is why empowering youth with advanced skills, that link qualifications with the current and rising dynamics of the labor market as well as foster competitiveness of Arab countries, is fundamental in our mandate,” said Al Mazrui.

Al Mazrui continued, “Accordingly, the Arab Youth Center is always keen, with the unlimited support of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and President of the Center, to create strategic partnerships with international organizations, multinational partners, and pioneering entities that empower youth in vital sectors. We are delighted to collaborate with DEWA, the global innovation lab for sustainable future technologies and the Arab model that inspires youth by achieving the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the UAE Energy Strategy 2050.”

Al Tayer, said, “Our vision is guided by the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to empower youth, invest in their potential and engage them in the development process. Today’s youths are tomorrow’s leaders and the cornerstone of sustainable development. We are pleased to sign the MoU with the Arab Youth Center, which was established to realize the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and President of the Center.”

“It is a pioneering platform for preparing promising young Arab leaders by incubating creative minds and investing in their potential. Through its Innovation Centre, DEWA will strengthen and develop the capabilities of the next generation of leaders and young innovators in clean and renewable energy technologies. This will enhance the UAE’s leadership in this promising sector and support the National Innovation Strategy, which aims to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world,” added Al Tayer.

The MoU aims to provide a platform for training Arab youth in clean and renewable energy technology, especially solar energy. The MoU will also support youth entrepreneurship and start-ups in clean technology.

Young people affiliated with AYC will have internship opportunities at DEWA’s Innovation Centre to develop their skills to lead the future of clean technology in the region and promote innovation in this significant sector.
