Spectrum has collaborated with Gawad Kalinga to shift to clean energy for saving electricity costs and helping their communities. This collaboration will install 670 Wp solar photovoltaic panels in the communities of Gawad Kalinga in San Pedro, Laguna. This project will help 150 households.
Spectrum, a subsidiary of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), is a renewable energy solutions provider offering tailor-fit solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential customers through an in-depth understanding of energy consumption behaviors and strategic partnerships with world-class technology partners.
Spectrum President and CEO Ferdinand Geluz said, “By switching to solar panels, the Gawad Kalinga beneficiaries are already able to save money while helping save the planet at the same time.”
The project aims to reduce monthly electricity costs by 30% due to the use of solar energy. Spectrum will deploy engineers and other experts to train the local residents to take part in the process of installation, operation, and maintenance of the system.
The project will also help locals to earn income from the technical knowledge they will gain with the training. The company plans to expand the project with other communities of Gawad Kalinga too.
