Kurdistan government has assigned 3 solar projects to the local companies in Iraq. The projects are in alignment to shift towards renewable energy.
All the three projects has 100 MW capacity and it is anticipated that the work will start in early 2022 and will be completed withing 6 months once the sites are finalized.
Rowa Amin, renewable energy director in Kurdistan’s Electricity Ministry said, “The three projects were awarded last month to 3 local companies..they are now in the process of designating project sites.”
Iraq has set the target to have 900 MW capacity from solar energy by 2030. Iraq is the fifth largest oil depositor in the world. The country is now focusing on generating electricity through solar energy.
