Engineering firm NTPC-GE Power Services Pvt Ltd won contracts to build a balance of system for two solar power projects at Shajapur Solar park in Madhya Pradesh. The total capacity of the project is 325 MW.
NTPC -GE Power Services Pvt Ltd. (NGSL), has been awarded two awards by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NRPC-REL). The awards were for engineering, procurement and construction of the balance of system at two sites of 105 MW and 220 MW capacities, as well as operation and maintenance for three year, according to the company in a statement.
The ‘balance of system’ at a solar energy plant comprises all the supporting pieces of equipment used in the installation and functioning of the main power generation unit. According to the statement, the projects are located at Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh, which is being developed by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd (RUMSL).
These plants will generate solar power that will be used to supply to the Indian Railways system as well as the national grid.
This project supports India’s overall strategy for reducing greenhouse gases and pave the way to India’s net zero emission goal by 2070.
Sanjeev Duggal, MD, NGSL India, stated in the statement that NGSL won the orders against stiff competition and would execute the same using EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) and project management abilities which NGSL developed through the successful execution large-scale projects. Duggal stated that these projects were the result of NGSL’s diversification strategy. They are also aligned with India’s goal to reduce GHG emissions and reach net-zero targets.
