Solar Generation in Tamil Nadu Hits Record High of 3,782 MW

Tamil Nadu touched the highest level of solar power generation, generating 3,782 MW at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday, state Power Minister Senthil Balaji said on Thursday.

He also stated that the peak solar energy consumption was 28.6 millions units.

Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company (Tangedco), stated that the previous highest solar generation was 3,658 MW on September 3. The previous maximum solar power consumption was 27.12 millions units on March 1.

Officials at Tangedco stated that the current climatic conditions are very favorable for solar energy generation. It is to be noted that the high generation of solar energy in Tamil Nadu is after a record generation of power through wind energy in the recently-concluded season.

Tamil Nadu averages 17,000 MW of power per day.
