ib vogt Completes 116 MWp Coara Marang Solar Project In Malaysia

ib vogt has achieved commercial operation (COD) of the 116 MWp Coara Marang Solar Project, in consortium with its Malaysian joint venture partner, Coara Solar Sdn Bhd. COD was reached on September 17th, 2022, providing clean solar energy from the photovoltaic plant to the Malaysian electricity grid. The project had already signed a 21-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in June 2020 with the Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysiaโ€™s largest electricity utility. The project was developed along with ib vogtโ€™s Malaysian project partner, Coara Solar, under the third round of the Large Scale Solar (LSS3) scheme issued by the Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission of Malaysia) in 2019. This tender scheme was introduced to increase the countryโ€™s renewable energy share in the national installed capacity mix from 2% to 31% by 2025.

Sembcorp Industries has exceeded 500 megawatt-peak of solar capacity in Singapore. Its gross solar capacity stood at 535MWp as on September 30. This milestone is achieved after the group was awarded SolarNova7 by the Housing & Development Board and the Singapore Economic Development Board. The SolarNova program is a joint effort by HDB as well as EDB to accelerate the deployment of solar photovoltaic systems in Singapore. Sembcorp claims that its portfolio of rooftop, ground-mounted, and floating PV systems will contribute more than a third to the nationโ€™s 2025 goal of the 1.5-gigawatt peak. Since May 2021โ€™s announcement of its strategic transformation, the group has more than doubled the number of renewables in its global operations.
