Saudi Arabia Approves Regulatory Framework For Renewable Energy Systems For Self-Consumption

The Board of Directors of the Water and Electricity Regulatory Authority (WERA), Saudi Arabia chaired by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman (Minister of Energy), approved the regulatory framework to regulate renewable energy systems for self-consumption.

This is a result of efforts by the energy system to create regulations that help achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 for renewable energy.
After the completion of technical and organizational arrangements with relevant authorities, the approval was granted.

This approval aims to contribute to the diversification of electric energy sources and support the strategic plans for the energy system in Kingdom. These include reducing emissions and reaching an optimal energy mix.

This decision will allow consumers to set up renewable energy systems for self-use. It will also expand the benefits of renewable energy technologies.
