Iraq Approves 200 MW Solar Power Station In Karbala Governorate

The Ministerial Council for Energy of Iraq approves a 200-MW solar power station in Karbala governorate.

This week’s cabinet meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani where this decision was made.

The cabinet in December 2021 approved to build of two solar power projects in Karbala of 300 megawatts capacity and Alexandria/Iskandariya of 225 megawatts capacity.

Recently, the Minister of Electricity of Iraq, Kamal Mohammed signed a contract to establish a solar power station in Erbil province with Pluto Otto Cycle company.
