IIT Roorkee-backed Start-up Wins National Award 2022 in Energy Storage Category

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee’s start-up Indi Energy (IIT Roorkee), which specialises in the manufacture of sodium-ion batteries has been awarded the National Startup Awards 2022.

This award was presented to recognize and celebrate the most innovative and promising startups in India. Piyush Goyal (Minister of Commerce and Industries, Government of India), presented the certificate of commendation in recognition of this achievement.

Goyal addressed the participants at the awards ceremony and stated that India is now the third-largest ecosystem for start ups in the globe. Without the creation of Digital India, this dream would have been impossible. “I congratulate you all for taking that first step towards becoming a developing nation.” The third edition was designed to honor businesses that provide innovative and ground-breaking solutions to encourage sustainable economic development in the country and create large-scale employment opportunities.

Prof KK Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee said that the “National Startup Award 2022” is one of the most prestigious awards within India’s start-up ecosystem. IIT Roorkee will provide support for start-ups that were founded by IITR students and faculty. The ecosystem is constantly being improved to foster new ideas and innovation in science-technology.

This award is a step towards our goal of making India’s energy independent and self-reliant in sustainable energy storage solutions.
