Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) and ReNew have partnered to develop a 300 MW hybrid energy project, with operations expected to begin within the next 18 months, reports PTI.

Land acquisition for the project has already been completed, JSL Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal told PTI.

JSL has also partnered with Hygenco India Private Limited to set up a green hydrogen plant, with operations expected to start in July 2023.

The company is investing Rs 120 crore to set up 21 MW of rooftop solar capacity at its Jajpur unit and 6 MW in the Hisar facility.

The generated energy will be used in various processes of stainless steel-making plants.

โ€œThese green initiatives are part of our mission to switch from a thermal energy-intensive manufacturing setup to renewable energy alternatives,โ€ Jindal said.

The company will continue to take proactive steps to reduce carbon emissions of its present and planned capacities, he added.

JSL aims to become carbon neutral by 2050 and reduced its carbon emissions by 1.4 lakh tonnes in FY22.
