As of 28-02-2023, the Government has approved 57 Solar Parks in India with a total capacity of 39.28 GW.
Nine parks have been fully completed, and eight are partially complete, with a total capacity of 10,117 MW of solar projects commissioned.
However, the establishment of Solar Parks has faced challenges such as acquiring clear land, mismatch in timelines between solar projects and power evacuation infrastructure, and environmental and regulatory issues.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is taking regular review meetings with stakeholders to address these challenges. MNRE has also advised the Ministry of Civil Aviation to install solar power plants in airports to reduce their electricity expenditure.
State Government organizations and PSUs are mainly setting up Solar Parks in India, and the Government has cancelled or reduced capacity in many parks where there is slow progress.
