Vapi, located in the Valsad district of Gujarat that borders Maharashtra is providing a strong market opportunity as well as validation for leading solar equipment makers like GoodWe.
Not only have multiple residents of this township taken to solar rooftop solutions to power their homes, but as strong influencers themselves who run their own businesses or are part of industry bodies in the region, many have become ambassadors for solar at large.
At one such home, owned by AM Balaji who runs a logistics business, we saw the impact the three year old solar rooftop solution has had on his lifestyle. With the 8.5 kW plant providing more than enough power to meet his monthly consumption, it actually influenced Balaji to opt for an EV as his second car, to ensure better utilisation of his generation.
For Shreyansh Mehta, Founding Partner, Solaris Techno, the installer for whom Balaji provided the first opportunity in the township, the new wave of aware customers has been a business boom. “Customers like Mr. Balaji do a lot of their own research, while also appreciating anything new in terms of technology, quality, or safety that an EPC firm can bring to the table”. Mehta points out how Balaji picked on the GoodWe SDT G2 inverter series for his requirements on his own, leaving Mehta to figure out the task of pitching the right modules and remaining set up.
Three years after installation, not only is Balaji relishing the satisfaction of producing his own power, having received zero power bills post activation, but he has also blazed a trail in the affluent township, with many other residents following him to set up their solar systems ranging from 6kW to 20 kW. For Mehta of Solarish Techno, it has been a welcome opportunity to service more customers, as many of these have gone on to opt for solar setups at their factories and offices too.
