SJVN, a power company, has entered into an agreement with Mahagenco, the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company, to collaborate on renewable energy projects in Maharashtra. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Geeta Kapur, the Director (Personnel) of SJVN, and P Anablagan, the CMD of Mahagenco.
The signing ceremony was attended by Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister and Power Minister of Maharashtra, and Abha Shukla, the State Principal Secretary Energy. SJVN’s Chairman & Managing Director, Nand Lal Sharma, stated that the company will develop 5,000 megawatts of renewable energy projects in Maharashtra as part of the agreement.
The collaboration between SJVN and Mahagenco aims to explore the feasibility of setting up various renewable projects, including hydro, pumped storage, wind, solar, hybrid, and green hydrogen projects in Maharashtra. The two companies will also jointly participate in tenders issued by the Maharashtra government for the renovation and modernization of small hydropower stations managed by Mahagenco.
This partnership signifies a significant step towards the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure and the transition to a greener and more sustainable energy sector in Maharashtra.
