PNE and TotalEnergies Renewables SAS have reached a successful agreement for the sale of five photovoltaic solar projects in Romania. These projects, which are currently in the development phase, have a combined capacity of 208 MWp (megawatt peak). PNE will continue to oversee the project development until they reach the ready-to-build stage. This agreement signifies PNE’s strong capabilities in the solar energy sector and reflects their commitment to delivering sustainable energy solutions.
The agreement underscores the trust of PNEs customers in the development towards a “Clean Energy Solutions Provider”.
Markus Lesser, CEO of PNE AG, expressed his satisfaction with TotalEnergies’ confidence in PNE’s established proficiency in the solar photovoltaic field. This agreement serves as validation for PNE’s successful “Scale Up 2.0” strategy, which has garnered recognition within the industry. Through the delivery of ready-to-build projects, PNE not only strengthens its resilient business model but also enhances the overall value of the company.
Marin de Montbel, VP Renewable Explorer – New Markets, emphasized that the acquisition of these five solar projects in Romania exemplifies TotalEnergies’ unwavering commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives in the country and across Eastern Europe, aligning with the goals of the Green Deal. This development not only allows TotalEnergies to leverage its expertise in solar power generation but also reinforces its presence in Eastern Europe, including the acquisition of a solar project portfolio in Poland with a total capacity of 200 MW. The company takes pride in becoming a preferred partner to assist Romania in diversifying its energy mix and achieving decarbonization through renewable energy sources.
The parties involved in the transaction have mutually agreed to maintain confidentiality regarding the purchase price.
PNE has established a strong presence in Romania for more than a decade, successfully undertaking the development and sale of 510 MW/MWp of wind and solar photovoltaic projects. Currently, the company has a robust pipeline of projects under development with a total volume of 1 GW.
