Solarvest Holdings Berhad, a leading clean energy expert, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Selangor Industrial Corporation Sdn Bhd (SIC), a subsidiary of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS), to boost the development of residential rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Malaysia. This strategic collaboration aims to promote sustainable living and contribute to the nation’s clean energy goals.
The MoU includes a commitment from SIC to promote residential solar solutions to PKNS employees, including SIC employees, through a salary deduction scheme. This innovative financing option allows individuals to allocate a portion of their monthly salary toward the installation of solar PV systems, making the transition to renewable energy more affordable and accessible.
Furthermore, the collaboration will foster close cooperation and information sharing to identify opportunities for integrating solar PV systems into new housing development projects for the general public. Solarvest will serve as SIC’s technology partner, providing advanced expertise and innovative solar PV solutions to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and overall effectiveness of residential solar solutions.
En. Ar Wan Muhd Hisham bin Wan Hawari, CEO of SIC, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are pleased to join forces with Solarvest to accelerate the development of rooftop solar PV systems in Malaysia. This partnership aligns well with our commitment to sustainability, as well as our dedication to upholding environmental, social, and governance (“ESG”) practices. Through this collaboration, we aim to empower our employees and the Malaysian public to embrace sustainable living, thereby fostering a positive impact in the country’s clean energy transition journey.” En. Ar Wan added, “Also, the adoption of solar PV solutions brings substantial long-term savings and acts as a safeguard against electricity tariff hikes. This positions solar PV systems as an attractive choice, providing homeowners with a reliable and resilient energy source while contributing to a sustainable future.”
Mr. Davis Chong Chun Shiong, Executive Director and Group CEO of Solarvest, commented “Through our collaboration with SIC, we are committed to utilizing our expertise and resources to drive the adoption of rooftop solar PV programs in the Malaysian market. Our collective focus also extends beyond SIC and PKNS employees by integrating solar PV systems into new housing development projects. By encouraging the adoption of clean energy solutions, we seek to facilitate a more sustainable and cost-effective energy landscape in Malaysia that benefits both individuals and the environment. Together, we aim to energize a regenerative world and shape a brighter future for generations to come.”
