The fourth Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting (ETWG) under India’s G20 Presidency commenced today in Goa, bringing together over 100 delegates from G20 member countries, special invitee countries, and various International Organizations. Chaired by Shri Pawan Agarwal, the Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, the two-day meeting will focus on building global cooperation towards sustainable and clean energy development.
The six priority areas outlined by India’s G20 Presidency include addressing technology gaps for energy transitions, low-cost financing, energy security, energy efficiency, industrial low carbon transitions, responsible consumption, and universal access to clean energy. These priority areas aim to foster a just and inclusive energy transition, promoting harmony and hope for a sustainable future.
Discussions during the meeting will build on the progress achieved in the previous three meetings held in Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, and Mumbai, with a focus on identifying best practices and innovative policies that support a clean energy transition.
The highlight of the 4th ETWG meeting will be detailed discussions on the draft Ministerial Communique, which will set the tone for the Ministerial meeting on July 22, 2023, in Goa. The Ministerial meeting will see esteemed Ministers and representatives from G20 and invited countries, with Shri RK Singh, the Union Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, chairing the G20 Energy Ministerial meeting.
Simultaneously, the 14th edition of CEM (Clean Energy Ministerial) is also taking place in Goa from July 19 to 23, 2023. The theme of CEM14/MI-8 is ‘Advancing Clean Energy Together,’ featuring over 80 side events focusing on various clean energy topics. The event is attracting top business and energy leaders from around the world, showcasing new and emerging technologies such as Electric Vehicles and Hydrogen.
Additionally, a Technology and Cultural showcase at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa will provide visitors with a unique experience, featuring cutting-edge clean technologies from across the globe.
