Refex Renewables & Infrastructure Limited is delighted to share the successful implementation of the 50 MW Solar PV Power Generation Project in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. This remarkable milestone was achieved by Sherisha Rooftop Solar SPV Four Private Limited (Solar Power Developer-SPD), a step-down subsidiary company of Refex Renewables.
The prestigious project was awarded by Railway Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL), a joint venture between Indian Railways and RITES Limited. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed with South East Central Railway for a commendable period of 25 years, ensuring sustainable energy supply for the region.
The solar plant, designed with four inverter blocks and a 33/220 kV power transformer, stands as a testament to Refex Renewables’ commitment to sustainable development. Additionally, the company constructed a 220 kV GIS (Gas Insulator Sub-station) bay at the Pooling Sub-Station to inject power into the central grid.
The Western Region Load Dispatch Centre (WRLDC) granted First Time Charging (FTC) approval on June 28, 2023, marking a significant milestone. Consequently, power flow commenced from July 01, 2023, and the generated power is now available for consumption by Indian Railways.
This ambitious endeavor contributes to environmental preservation by reducing approximately 1 lakh tons of CO2 emissions annually. Moreover, the project is estimated to yield substantial savings of around ₹373 crore over 25 years for the Indian Railways.
As part of Indian Railways’ ongoing commitment to sustainability, the Project plays an essential role in their mission to become a ‘Net Zero Carbon Emitter’ by 2030.
Refex Group takes immense pride in championing green energy initiatives and continues to collaborate with Indian Railways and the Government of India’s efforts to drive positive change in the field of sustainable development.
