Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) welcomed HE Luis Miguel Merlano Hoyos, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to the UAE, as part of diplomatic and consular visits aimed at strengthening relations and exchanging expertise.
During the meeting, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized the strategic relations between the UAE and Colombia, grounded in common interests and a shared vision for sustainable development.
Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s dedication to expanding partnerships in clean and renewable energy and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the energy and water sectors. He shared DEWA’s global best practices and expertise in sustainability, clean energy sources, energy efficiency, and water management.
Al Tayer also showcased DEWA’s development projects, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, a massive initiative with planned investments of up to AED 50 billion (US$13.6 billion) and a production capacity target of 5,000 megawatts by 2030. DEWA’s projects also encompass areas such as pumped-storage hydroelectric power, green hydrogen, space programs, cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure through the Green Charger initiative.
Furthermore, DEWA discussed its international exhibitions and conferences, including the upcoming 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) and the 25th Water, Energy, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) & Dubai Solar Show 2023. These events solidify Dubai’s position as a global hub for the green economy.
The Colombian delegation praised DEWA’s efforts and expressed interest in participating in DEWA’s clean energy projects and exchanging experiences, information, and technologies.
