In a significant development for the renewable energy sector in Uttar Pradesh, projects worth a staggering Rs 1 lakh crore are set to be launched soon, as announced by the state’s Additional Chief Secretary for Renewable Energy, Mahesh Gupta. This announcement comes on the heels of the state receiving investment proposals totaling approximately Rs 7.50 lakh crore during the UP Global Investors Summit earlier this year, signifying a robust interest in renewable energy initiatives.
Gupta emphasized the pivotal role of renewable energy in India’s pursuit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. He underscored Uttar Pradesh’s contribution towards this national goal, citing the launch of the state’s biofuel and solar energy policy in November 2022 as a pivotal step.
Speaking at the 16th edition of the Renewable Energy India Expo, held alongside the inaugural Battery Show India in Greater Noida, Gupta expressed the state’s commitment to transforming investment proposals into tangible projects. He mentioned that groundbreaking ceremonies for renewable energy projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore are imminent, with ongoing efforts and support being provided to facilitate their implementation.
Biofuel and solar energy projects currently constitute the prominent verticals within the renewable energy sector in Uttar Pradesh, Gupta noted. He also highlighted the significance of the Renewable Energy India Expo as a vital platform for stakeholders, where he engaged with buyers and exhibitors.
The Uttar Pradesh government’s determination to promote green energy and elevate its role in the state’s energy landscape was a recurring theme in Gupta’s statements, reinforcing the state’s commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly energy solutions.
