The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has announced a strategic partnership with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN) and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI) to propel Indonesia toward achieving its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) targets under the Paris Agreement. During the 2023 AIIB Annual Meeting held in Sharm El Sheikh, the three entities formalized their commitment to collaborate on Indonesia’s greenhouse gas reduction objectives. The primary goal of this partnership is to facilitate Indonesia’s shift from traditional energy sources to sustainable and renewable alternatives.

Malakoff Corporation Berhad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MMC Ports, a subsidiary of the MMC Group of Companies, encompassing Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, Johor Port Berhad, Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, and Penang Port Sdn Bhd. The MoU exchanged during the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2023, aims to explore green power initiatives, including solar power programs, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and more, collectively referred to as “Green Power Projects.”

In a recent analyst briefing for its second-quarter financial results, Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s President and CEO, Dato’ Indera Ir. Baharin Din announced TNB’s commitment to advance the nation’s green agenda while fostering economic growth through Large-Scale Solar Parks (LSSP), Hybrid Hydro-Floating Solar (HHFS), and co-firing hydrogen and ammonia projects. These initiatives align with the NETR and signify TNB’s dedication to decarbonization, grid flexibility, and cross-sector electrification. Baharin unveiled TNB’s ambitious plans to generate 3,000 MW of renewable energy by 2040, including 2,500 MW from innovative HHFS technology and 500 MW from LSSPs. The HHFS project will be executed in four phases and is set to be completed by 2025, harnessing the power of hydro dams.

National Irrigation Administration Expands Solar-Powered Irrigation Projects To Benefit Filipino Farmers

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) is making significant strides in its commitment to harness renewable energy for irrigation projects across the Philippines. With Acting Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen at the helm, NIA is actively pursuing the development of solar-powered irrigation projects in 183 sites scheduled for completion by 2024. Additionally, the agency is proposing an additional 791 potential sites to irrigate approximately 39,694 hectares of agricultural land nationwide. In the current year, 147 potential irrigation sites for solar power have been identified, with a budget of Php 1,643,583,002 allocated. As of September 15, 2023, NIA has already completed the construction of 17 solar-powered irrigation projects, amounting to Php 117,360,002. These projects provide reliable irrigation water supply to 830 hectares of agricultural land, benefiting 801 farmers and their families.

Reservoir Link Energy Subsidiary Awarded Contract For 50MW Solar PV Plant

Reservoir Link Energy Bhd (RLEB) has announced that its subsidiary, Founder Energy Sdn. Bhd. (FESB), has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from Samaiden Sdn. Bhd. (SSB) for subcontract works on a Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic Plant (LSSPV). The 50MWac solar PV plant is located in Sungai Petani, Daerah Kuala Muda, Kedah, and the LOA was approved for announcement. The scope of work includes civil & structural, mechanical & electrical works within the site, including the supply of PV mounting structures. The contract sum is RM21 million, subject to actual work done.
