AmpIn Energy Transition, formerly known as Amp Energy India and a prominent Independent Power Producer (IPP) in India, has announced a strategic partnership with Jupiter International Limited, heralding the establishment of a joint venture dedicated to solar manufacturing. This collaboration represents a significant step toward bolstering India’s solar cell and module manufacturing capacity, ultimately promoting self-reliance in the renewable energy sector.
Under this joint venture (JV), the partners will establish a cutting-edge manufacturing facility focused on producing up to 1.3 gigawatts (GW) of high-quality solar cells and modules. The initiative aligns with the Indian government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Tranche-II scheme, designed to boost domestic manufacturing, reduce global supply chain vulnerabilities, and decrease India’s reliance on solar imports. AmpIn’s foray into manufacturing aims to secure control over the supply chain for critical components, a strategic move that resonates with the growing appetite for India-made solar cells.
Jupiter International Limited, with an established 800 MW solar cell manufacturing facility in Himachal Pradesh, brings over 15 years of experience in producing high-efficiency solar cells. The partnership leverages Jupiter’s expertise and AmpIn’s commitment to providing cost-effective renewable power. The JV’s terms stipulate that the solar modules will be used domestically by AmpIn and supplied to third-party developers, facilitating both domestic and export growth within India’s renewable energy sector.
Mr. Pinaki Bhattacharyya, MD and CEO of AmpIn Energy Transition, emphasized the collaboration’s alignment with the Indian government’s vision of self-sufficiency and a greener future, stating that it will enhance their control over the supply chain for essential components.
Mr. Alok Garodia, Chairman of Jupiter International, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership’s potential to reshape India’s solar manufacturing landscape, stabilize the supply chain, and reduce the country’s dependence on imports, emphasizing the combined competencies of both companies.
