Saudi-based global utility company ACWA Power has obtained the Commercial Operation certificate for Group 2 of the Sudair solar photovoltaic Independent Power Plant (IPP) project in Sudair Industrial City.
Group 2, representing a 25% capacity increase over Group 1, is now operational, bringing the total capacity in commercial operation to 1,125 megawatts.
The $906.5 million project achieved commercial close in the third quarter of 2021, with ACWA Power holding a 35% stake in Sudair One Renewable Energy Company.
The Sudair Solar PV IPP is part of the Public Investment Fund’s renewable energy program, contributing to Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Programme.
