Tristar Group has launched its second solar power project in Dubai, featuring a capacity of 464 kilowatt peak (kWp) at its specialized warehouse facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA). This marks the company’s second project since 2021 in collaboration with TotalEnergies. The new plant, equipped with 1,190 photovoltaic panels, has an annual capacity of 750 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable electricity, covering 90% of the facility’s total power consumption. This setup is expected to offset 318 tons of CO2 emissions, which is comparable to the environmental benefit of planting around 8,200 trees.

Wasl, one of Dubai’s premier real estate development and management companies, has proudly concluded one of the largest on-grid solar projects in the emirate, emphasizing Dubai’s dedication to sustainability and its role as the host of COP28. As the UAE marks 2023 as the Year of Sustainability, Wasl installed over 22,000 photovoltaic panels across 44 buildings, boosting the grid’s capacity by more than 11 GWh annually. This initiative aligns with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 initiative and was executed in collaboration with Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO). The project’s achievement, exceeding anticipated outcomes, highlights Wasl’s dedication to clean energy solutions and aligns with the broader sustainability objectives of the UAE.

Saudi Arabia Unveils 3.7 GW Solar Power Tender In Latest Renewable Energy Drive

Saudi Arabia is initiating the fifth round of its National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP), aiming to allocate four solar projects totalling 3.7 GW. The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has commenced the qualification process for interested companies. The major project, Al Sadawi, with a 2 GW capacity, is planned for the Eastern Province, followed by the 1 GW AlMas’a project in the Hail Region. Additionally, Al Henakiyah 2 (400 MW) and Rabigh 2 (300 MW) are designated for the Al Madinah and Makkah regions, respectively. This follows recent deals for the 1,100 MW Al Henakiyah as well as 400 MW Tabarjal projects.

JA Solar Continues Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Power n Sun

JA Solar and Power n Sun (PNS) signed another strategic cooperation agreement during the Future Energy Show KSA 2023. LK Verma, Founder and Managing Director of PNS, and Jack Zhang, JA Solar Regional Head of the Middle East market, signed contracts for both parties. The aim was to explore avenues for collaboration and mutual support in renewable energy and green hydrogen. Set to launch at the beginning of 2024, this program, under the RES and EXE Fund, boasts a substantial budget of €30 million.
