LONGi recently hosted a grand ‘Green Electricity + Green Hydrogen’ solution launch event and a customer appreciation dinner in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As November unfolds, the weather in Dubai gradually cools. On the day of the event on Palm Island, LONGi’s Hi-MO7 panels sparkled in the evening sun. Prominent strategic clients in the Middle East region, including ACWA, MASDAR, L&T, Siemens Energy, and nearly 150 others, attended the event.

As the sun dipped below the horizon and the city lights began to shine, Jin Jian, the President of LONGi’s MEA&CA, Utility Business Group, led clients on an exploration of the Green Electricity and Green Hydrogen solutions.
With a projected photovoltaic installation capacity of over 374GW in 2023, a 51% increase from 2022, the Middle East region alone witnessed a remarkable 102% growth in the first three quarters of 2023 compared to the previous year. These figures underscore the enormous market potential in the Middle East and Africa. Endowed with abundant sunlight resources, Saudi Arabia, for example, boasts an average of around 2300kWh/m2 annually on its vast land. Major Middle Eastern countries have set ambitious visions for 2030, such as Saudi Arabia aiming for a renewable energy installation target of 58.7GW, constituting 50% of the total.
Addressing hydrogen development, President Jin highlighted the ample unused land in Middle Eastern countries, presenting an excellent opportunity for photovoltaic and wind-powered hydrogen production. Notably, regional countries have outlined hydrogen development strategic goals for 2030, with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, and others anticipating a total hydrogen installation capacity of 5.3 million tons per year by 2030. If achieved through photovoltaic power generation, this could bring about a photovoltaic market capacity of 150GW-180GW to the region.
Looking ahead to future energy transitions, he said three main trends: photovoltaics, energy storage, and hydrogen. To align with global development trends, the Middle East is undergoing a transformation towards renewable energy and sustainable development.
Achieving carbon neutrality identifies energy as the main battlefield, with electricity serving as the primary force. “Green Electricity” + “Green Hydrogen” not only represent the inevitable path to global carbon neutrality but also stand out as the optimal choice for
the energy transition in the Middle East region.

The showcased Hi-MO 7 modules in Dubai represent another stride in LONGi’s commitment to technological innovation. Ahmed Zeyada, the Product and Solutions Manager for Utility MEA&CA, presented this new generation of high-efficiency modules tailored for the utility market to the esteemed attendees.
The Hi-MO 7 modules are built on advanced HPDC battery technology, a testament to LONGi’s innovative approach rooted in ‘first principles.’ HPDC, which stands for High Performance and Hybrid Passivated Dual-Junction Cell, signifies an upgraded innovation in HPC battery technology. The back of the cell employs high-low junctions, optimizing film layer design and deposition processes to achieve excellent global passivation effects while reducing light absorption. The introduction of a local low-resistance contact layer on the front further enhances cell efficiency. Moreover, this technology optimizes anti-reflection on both sides/low-composite film layers and metallization schemes. Overall, the upgraded HPDC battery boasts superior conversion efficiency, power temperature coefficient, and increased reliability, leading to significant gains in power generation. The Hi-MO 7 product, well-received by Middle Eastern customers, demonstrates not only high efficiency but also superior product quality and long-term reliability after extensive evaluation, development, and testing. It significantly lowers the photovoltaic electricity cost in harsh desert regions, embodying LONGi’s dedication to integrated innovation in the ‘terawatt era’ and delivering ultra-high-value module products for large-scale ground-based power stations, which has entered large-scale production and is poised to achieve a supply capacity of 30GW by the end of 2023.

LONGi ensures low-cost investments throughout the entire lifecycle of the system, spanning from product to system solutions, and covering both CAPEX and OPEX phases. This commitment guarantees customers the best Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) and Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH). LONGi’s ‘Green Electricity + Green Hydrogen’ solution integrates multiple specialties, including new energy, power electronics, energy storage, chemical engineering, and automation control, providing comprehensive services throughout the project’s lifecycle. This includes secure and reliable project design, economic assessments for the entire lifecycle, system stead-
state/transient simulation verification, and efficient and reliable full-chain product supply.
Moreover, the ‘Green Electricity + Green Hydrogen’ system solution from LONGi relies on intelligent algorithms to generate over 10,000 configuration schemes in a short time. It can iterate hundreds of times, simulate equipment operating conditions in extreme situations through transient simulation platforms, steady-state simulation platforms, and empirical testing platforms. This in-depth optimization process aims to refine the project’s LCOE and LCOH until the best solution meeting project boundary requirements is achieved.

Journeying Together | The Middle East Emerges as a Bright New Star in LONGi’s Overseas Expansion With the showcasing and explanation of the solutions, clients engaged in enthusiastic discussions on the lawn and around the tables, expressing a keen interest in LONGi’s products and technology. LONGi expressed gratitude to all attendees by hosting a grand banquet.
LONGi has experienced rapid business growth in the Middle East over the past two years. This year, a significant subsidiary was established in Dubai, marking a milestone in LONGi’s overseas expansion. Through the continuous efforts of the LONGi team, the
Middle East has evolved into a shining new star on LONGi’s global market map, rising steadily. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the trust and support of strategic clients in the region. As we continue to walk alongside our clients on the path of
providing optimal value products and services, we aim to achieve mutual success and growth together!
