Filinvest and ENGIE Renewable Energy Enterprise, Inc. (FREE) in collaboration with Philippine DCS Development Corp. (PDDC) have unveiled four sustainable energy projects aimed at providing 13.68 megawatts (MW) of solar energy to companies like CEMEX, Nexperia, and Merasenko Corporation. Additionally, the initiative will contribute 11,400 refrigeration tons (RT) of sustainable cooling capacity for Festival Mall in Alabang.
Juan Eugenio L. Roxas, President and CEO of FDC Utilities, Inc., expressed pride in assisting energy-intensive industries in their sustainability efforts without compromising on financial performance. The largest solar project involves a 10.08 MW ground-mounted solar array with cement producer Cemex in the City of Naga, Cebu. Cemex aims to cover 65% of its electricity consumption with clean energy by 2030.
In Cabuyao, Laguna, a contract has been secured with Dutch semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia for a 3 MW rooftop solar system. Merasenko Corporation, a medical products and solutions company, has engaged FREE to develop a 0.53 MWp rooftop solar system in Cebu City.
PDDC will develop a low-carbon centralized cooling system (CCS) for Festival Mall in Alabang under a 20-year build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) contract. The CCS, with a capacity of 11,400 RT, is expected to save 47,500 metric tons of CO2 over the 20-year term and will complement Festival Mall’s existing 2.8 MW rooftop solar system, the largest of its kind in Metro Manila. The CCS is anticipated to be commissioned in 2025.
