Iberdrola will install Spain’s first hybrid hydroelectric and solar plant.

The HIDRO Cedillo facility, situated in Extremadura, Spain, will boast an 86.4 MW capacity with over 160,000 photovoltaic modules and a fixed structure. Iberdrola has secured environmental approval for the project. Hybridization optimizes grid utilization, reducing environmental impact and boosting stable and efficient renewable production.

Sharing grid connections, substations, and evacuation lines, these hybrid plants, like HIDRO Cedillo, located on pre-used renewable land, promote common infrastructure, lessening the overall environmental footprint. Iberdrola España’s commitment to innovation and renewable leadership is evident in this groundbreaking project, emphasizing environmental protection and biodiversity enhancement measures.
