The Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, operated by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), is a global hub for innovation in clean and renewable energy. With a sprawling area of 4,355 square meters and standing 88 meters tall, the four-storey building serves as an incubator for advancements in various clean energy fields. Visitors can engage in a unique educational experience, witness drone and hologram shows, and participate in interactive experiences like autonomous bus rides.
The Innovation Centre utilizes Metaverse technology to provide a virtual tour of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, recognized as the world’s largest single-site solar park based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. The center, aligned with DEWA’s commitment to innovation, hosts events, and professional training courses, and collaborates with major local and international organizations and universities.
The Centre received visits from 57 countries in 2023 and conducted 4 professional training courses, graduating over 90 participants with accredited certificates. Various programs and events throughout the year focused on clean energy technologies, including the Middle East and North Africa Solar Conference (MENA SC) and initiatives to enhance the future skills of the youth.
In addition to educational activities, the Innovation Centre organizes contests like the Young Inspirers Contest and the Cleantech Hackathon to encourage innovation in renewable and clean energy. The Centre, recognized for its Emiratisation efforts, boasts an 85% Emiratisation rate and employs young Emiratis with advanced degrees in science and engineering.
DEWA’s Innovation Centre continues to be a beacon for clean energy education and innovation, providing a platform for learning and collaboration in the pursuit of a sustainable and renewable future.
