Strata Clean Energy marks a milestone with the groundbreaking of Scatter Wash battery storage in Phoenix. The 255 MW complex, operational by April 2025, will store electricity for 250,000 homes daily for 20 years. A 20-year tolling agreement with APS will provide a reliable energy supply.
Mortenson is the EPC partner, and Tesla’s Megapack 2XL powers the project. Supported by the Investment Tax Credit, Scatter Wash exemplifies the impact of sustainable energy incentives.
โThis groundbreaking demonstrates a considerable advancement in large-scale sustainable energy solutions in a major growing metropolitan area, underscoring Strataโs dedication to addressing critical grid challenges,โ said Josh Rogol, President of Strata Clean Energy. โIn showcasing our dedication to utility clients like APS and Arizona homes and businesses, we continue shaping the future of energy storage by ensuring grid reliability and driving progress towards broader decarbonization and economic development goals through local jobs and investment. It exemplifies our dedication to a more sustainable future.”
โArizona is one of the fastest growing states in the country and reliable and affordable power is critical for APS customers, especially during our hottest summer days,โ added Jacob Tetlow, Executive Vice President of Operations at APS. โThese batteries will help us continue to serve our customers with a balanced and diverse power supply.โ
