Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and HYCAP Group, a net-zero asset management company, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the production, storage, and transport of green hydrogen.

Aligned with the UAE Net Zero Strategy 2050 and National Hydrogen Strategy, the collaboration aims to establish an industrial complex in Abu Dhabi dedicated to hydrogen-related industries and renewable energy advancement.

This strategic move supports the UAE’s goal to become a top 10 producer of green hydrogen by 2031 and fosters a sustainable industrial sector, consolidating Abu Dhabi’s position as a competitive hub in the region.

The complex will encompass clean hydrogen production facilities, storage, transport, electrolyser manufacturing, electrical charging manufacturing, fuel cell manufacturing, and the development of bus and truck manufacturing facilities.

HYCAP Group’s Chairman and Founding Partner, Jo Bamford, highlighted the UAE’s leadership in transitioning to clean, renewable energy and expressed commitment to seizing the opportunities presented by the region’s emergence as a green hydrogen hub. The agreement reflects the dedication of both entities to contribute to the global shift towards sustainable energy practices.

The Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), ADDED’s entity for industrial sector development, will work closely with HYCAP to materialize the initiatives outlined in the MoU.

The joint efforts seek to create a robust ecosystem, supporting the hydrogen industry and clean energy infrastructure while attracting global industrial companies to the industrial complex in Abu Dhabi. The strategic alliance underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainable development, industry innovation, and fostering a resilient, low-carbon future.
