Nexamp Establishes Chicago as Second National Headquarters, Highlighting Commitment to Midwest and Clean Energy Transformation

Nexamp, the leading community solar provider in the nation, has announced the establishment of its second national headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. The company plans to expand its team in Chicago by adding 50 new members by 2026, reinforcing its commitment to the Midwest. This expansion is part of Nexamp’s ambitious investment plans totaling over $2 billion in Illinois, including existing projects and future developments.

Governor JB Pritzker and Congressman Danny K. Davis joined Nexamp CEO Zaid Ashai in a discussion with customers, community solar landowners, and Nexamp team members. This event showcased the significance of Illinois and the impact of Governor Pritzker’s Clean Energy Jobs Act, demonstrating how progressive policy initiatives can drive job creation and foster an equitable energy transition.

Nexamp CEO Zaid Ashai highlighted the pivotal role of Illinois in the company’s growth, emphasizing its alignment with Nexamp’s vision of a cleaner, more inclusive energy future. Governor Pritzker praised Nexamp’s decision to establish its headquarters in Chicago, underscoring the state’s leadership in the national solar landscape and the positive economic and environmental outcomes of renewable energy initiatives.

Congressman Danny K. Davis welcomed Nexamp’s headquarters to Chicago, commending Governor Pritzker’s leadership and Illinois’ commitment to clean energy and job creation. He highlighted federal initiatives, including enhanced tax credits, aimed at promoting solar energy adoption among low-income communities, thus reducing electricity costs and fostering green job growth.

Since opening its first Chicago office in 2019, Nexamp has experienced significant growth, expanding from five to 80 team members in just five years. The company specializes in developing, owning, and operating community solar and storage projects, contributing renewable energy to the power grid. With approximately 75 projects in operation or under development in Illinois, Nexamp expects to create nearly 4,000 jobs and generate close to 300 MW of energy, enough to power 50,000 average households.

To further its commitment to job creation and skills development in Chicago, Nexamp will collaborate with City Colleges of Chicago to establish a fellowship program for local students interested in pursuing careers in the solar industry. Additionally, Nexamp will prioritize Equity Eligible Persons (EEPs) for new job opportunities, particularly in construction management roles, ensuring diversity and inclusion in the solar workforce and meeting Illinois’ Minimum Equity Standard established under the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act of 2021.
